Biography
Areej Abdulsalam is a researcher in the field of water treatment and desalination, with a strong focus on membrane-based processes and advanced modeling techniques. Her work centers on developing high-resolution theoretical and numerical models for membrane systems, integrating mass and energy balances with rigorous thermodynamic frameworks to predict performance and scaling behavior under realistic operating conditions. She has hands-on experience with MATLAB-based modeling, experimental validation, and multi-ion solution chemistry, contributing to peer-reviewed journal publications and international conference submissions. Her research interests include membrane distillation, brine management, fouling and scaling prediction, and the integration of data-driven and thermodynamically informed machine-learning approaches for process optimization. Through multidisciplinary collaboration, her work aims to advance energy-efficient and sustainable desalination technologies applicable to high-salinity and industrial water streams.
