Biography
Olga Ferrer works in ACCIONA innovation department, from the water business, as Desalination and New technologies Area Manager and as Technical Leader in Desalination. She undertook chemical and industrial engineering in the Polytechnical Catalan University (UPC) (Barcelona, Spain), an MSc in Cranfield University (Silsoe, United Kingdom) and her PhD studies in the UPC (Barcelona, Spain) as well, with an international stay in the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (United States of America). She has been working in water treatment since she finished her studies, mainly in R&D&i, but also in engineering, in different international companies. Her research interests are mainly related to seawater desalination, including pre-treatment, reverse osmosis desalination, post-treatment and brine valorisation. She is also interested in drinking water production and wastewater reclamation and reuse by advanced means, especially by membrane-based processes.
