Appearing as Presenter
Speaking on Process and design

Masahiro Yasukawa (Dr. Env.) is a Manager of the Separation Membrane R&D Group at Toyobo MC Corporation. His work spans reverse osmosis (RO), forward osmosis (FO), pressure‑retarded osmosis (PRO), osmotically assisted reverse osmosis (OARO) and reverse electrodialysis (RED) for water and energy applications. He has contributed extensively to brine concentration, seawater desalination, and zero liquid discharge (ZLD), integrating simulation‑driven design and process scale‑up. Before joining industry, he served as Projective Assistant Professor at Kobe University and Assistant Professor at Yamaguchi University. Dr. Yasukawa has authored more than 50 peer‑reviewed papers, book chapters, and patents in membrane and salinity‑gradient technologies. He is active in the Society of Chemical Engineers, Japan, and the Japan Desalination Association, promoting collaboration between academia and industry. At Toyobo MC, he leads multidisciplinary R&D in materials, module design, and process integration to deliver practical, energy‑efficient solutions for high‑salinity streams, desalination, and salinity‑gradient energy.
